update

Not too long ago I wrote about two local cyclists who were killed. The women who hit them ended up showing barbiturates and morphine in her system, as well as not wearing required prescription glasses. She'll be facing two counts of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of drugs. She has pleaded not guilty and is currently free on bond (hopefully they've at least revoked her license). Lots of soap opera stuff involved with the lady, read the Gazette's write up here.

Hope she goes to jail!

What a sad story. People's drug and irresponsible alcohol use seem to get a whole heck of a lot of people killed and hurt. It would be great if we could figure out a way for those things not to overtake people. Maybe brains would be helpful...

I'm with Jeremy...lock her ass up! There's just no excuse to be behind the wheel of a car in that state.

It makes me sick that she's pleading not guilty. I'd have much more respect for her if she took responsibility for her actions.

I'm assuming she has major health issues, being on prescription drugs and having a mug shot with an oxygen hose. And she's friggin' old, which means more healthcare in the near future. Putting her in jail creates a monstrous burden for the taxpayers. I say house arrest and a zillion hours of community service cleaning up bike paths.

eye for an eye

I've got a truck and an old bike she can borrow!

Worst part is that you can revoke her license all you want...don't need one to turn on the ignition. Whether or not she has some bad medical condition has no bearing on this - she and her family should have known she shouldn't be driving. Damn...don't get me started....I hate drunk/impaired drivers - especially the ones that don't take responsibility for their actions.

Careful now, if you drink at all, you've probably legally drove drunk. It doesn't take much to get to .08. Are you unable to drive at .08? That's a topic for another post.

They should slap an ankle monitor on her. That can tell if she's in a vehicle. It's much cheaper than throwing her in jail and taking care of all her health needs. Can't afford all your pain meds? Oh, that must suck...
