beer 239

Great night at Front Range BBQ on Wednesday.  Beer of the day was the Dragon's Milk from New Holland Brewing in Holland, Michigan.

The Springs recently lost one of our most colorful characters, Purple Lloyd.  So Wednesday was somewhat of a memorial for him.  Tons of friends showed up.  Out way past my bedtime, but definitely worth it.

beer 236, 237, & 238

Sure Thing IPA from Barrels & Bottles in Golden.  Decent joint, though not close to making my top two for the city.  Tasted quite a few of their beers during the USA Pro Cycling Challenge.

Saw this sign coming back from Denver, just as we entered the Springs.  Stay off the road, stoners!

On Monday BLOS and I hared our annual Jerry Garcia Memorial DIM hash.  Started at the Red Rock Lounge, meandered through Red Rock Canyon, had a beer check at the quarry, and then headed back to the house.  Hash was 99 parts PBR and one part Hop Nosh from Uinta Brewing in Salt Lake City.

Easy night on Tuesday as I'm looking to start running again on Wed morning.  Relaxed with a bottle of the IPA from The Shed Brewery in Stowe, Vermont.

Bunch of runners were at Red Leg on Sunday night.

beer 235

Territorial IPA from Royal Gorge Brewing.  $100 and I went here after rafting the Royal Gorge on Saturday.  They take your picture and then try to charge you 45 bones after the float.  Didn't pay that, but here's about what we looked like:

beer 233 & 234

A while ago an out-of-state buddy asked me whatever happened to Gordon Imperial Red from Oskar Blues.  Kind of caught me off guard because I used to drink the stuff fairly regularly, but realized I hadn't had it, or seen it, in a while.  After two seconds of internet sluthing, I came across this article explaining what was up.  Fucking lawyers.  But seriously, brewers, you should really check out this super secret website - www.google.com.  It might save you from some troubles down the line.  Important take away is that G'Night is the same beer as Gordon's, just a different name.

That is the sweeper truck from Thursday's USA Pro Cycling Challenge, taken from Carson's yard.

On Friday $100 and I met after work at the newest brewery in town, Iron Bird Brewing Company.  Another fine edition to the south downtown area.  Had the Propaganda IPA.  They need to step up their game just a bit to match the IPA from Fieldhouse Brewing just around the corner, but I'll definitely be back here.

beer 232

Have some friends from Atlanta at the house.  They were kind enough to bring some beer.  Sweetwater Brewing is always one of the highlights of Telluride weekend.

Rode my Surly an hour this morning.  Can't believe I somehow rode 100 miles just two weeks ago.  Really awesome in the Garden today as it's closed to vehicles for the big bike race.  No cars, must have seen a thousand bikers though.

beer 231

Best.  Beer.  Ever.  I grew up on this stuff.  And look how awesome I turned out!

Kind of creepy taking pics of a stranger's license place, but I've never seen this before.  Definitely didn't have then while I spent the better part of seven years down in Tejas.

Very easy dog walk this morning.  Pushed it pretty hard at the rock gym for an hour this evening.  Now it's time to get drunk and stay drunk for the next two days as we welcome the USA Pro Cycling Challenge to town.

Thursday!

beer 230

229 was the Rainier I had with the Leadville locals on Sunday night pictured below.  Probably drank a pint of Fireball while I was there as well.  No better way to recover from a hundo than to get wasted.

Beer 230 was the 7 Hop IPA from Rogue Brewing.  $100 and I hit the climbing gym for a bit and then headed over to Brewer's Republic for this tasty beer.

Tuesday morning dog hike over in Red Rock Canyon, 30 minutes.  Crushed the first mile in just under 27 minutes!

beer 228

Enjoyed a nice brew at Twin Lakes, mile 60.  I was still on 25 hour pace here, though that wouldn't last much longer.

beer 227

‎Dam Straight Lager from Dillon Dam.

Pre-race Moscow Mules

beer 226

Police & Thieves India Pale Lager from Phantom Canyon Brewing.  Dropped by here on the way to the B.B. King show.

Good luck to everyone running this weekend!

bike pics

Some photos from my ride.  Not sure what kind of futuristic camera they had to use in order to get shots of me at the speed I was going.  Probably used technology gleaned from the Hubble telescope.

Note the water crossing.  Lance avoided that when he rode.  Pussy.

beer 225

Lobo Negro from Pedernales Brewing Company in Fredericksburg, Tejas.

Easy 5K on Wednesday morning with the wife and dog over in Red Rock Canyon.  Hard two hours at the rock gym in the evening.

Leadman results are up.  I have a good shot at finishing in the top 50.  Wooten needs to watch his back as he's only four minutes ahead of me.

bike report

Posted a blurb on my little bike ride over on Pikes Peak Sports.

beer 223 & 224

223 was the Austin Amber from Independence Brewing Company in Austin.  A-town is slowly catching up to the rest of the brewing world.

224 was the Texas Red Amber Lager from Rahr & Sons Brewing in Fort Worthless.

Told you there would be a lot of Texas brews coming your way.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes before, during, and after the bike ride.  I've taken FB off my phone, so by the time I got back home I had way too many kudos to answer, but I really appreciate all of 'em.  Funny, I'm always trying to cut FB out of my life, but I want everyone else to update constantly so when I do check in I can find out what everyone is up to.

Feeling fine after the ride.  Certainly doesn't beat you up like a hundo run.  Running 45 minutes easy every day since the ride, using all that extra time in the day to get some shit done around the house.  Looking at getting up the Incline for the final time this year on Thursday before Friends of the Incline close it down and ruin it forever.

beer 222

‎Broken Compass Helles.

After completing America's Highest 10K in just under 48 minutes, $100 and I headed over to Breckenridge to meet up with some old Texas friends and drink some more Broken Compass brews.  Needless to say, this week will be mostly Austin beers!

beer 219

Guess what I had for lunch?

Speaking of health food, Bingo Burger opens up the Springs office on August 21.  Same day the USA Pro Cycling Challenge rolls through our village.

Cool shot of the Garden.  I've put tons of miles in and around this park over the years.

Celebrated with Brooks last night at the Lounge.

beer 218

‎Green Flash night at Brewer's Republic! This one is the East Village Pilsner. Lots of IPA to follow!

beer 217

In honor of Speedy Jack dragging GZ's ass to another burro race victory this past weekend.  Plus, with a double IPA you know Brooks will stay away.

Wednesday morning easy 40 minutes with the dog on the Garden trails. A local photographer took this pic of the Garden the other day.  Best back yard in the world!

$100 and I start climbing classes at CityRock tonight.  Looking forward to that.  Planning on spending a lot of time in the rock gym this winter.

I follow Alastair Humphreys and all his microadventure stuff.  Really love the Shiner at the end of this video.  Wonder how he felt the next day after having a case of the Shiner shits?

beer 216

Golden Crisp IPA from Ironworks in LakeHood.  Met PG here for a few beers before the Red Rocks Show.  This place is the Red Rock Lounge of Colorado breweries.  Except the Red Rock Lounge has better beer.

Cut back to one run per day.  40 minutes on the Garden roads on Monday morning, YMCA and an hour of yoga on Monday evening.  50 minutes in Red Rock Canyon this morning, then rode to work.  Feeling good, excited for the final Leadman events but will also be glad when they're over.  Have some good things planned for the rest of the summer, mostly dealing with riding to beer festivals.

Got a pair of highly sought after tix to see Sharknado 2 on the big screen later this month.  I know you're jealous.

beer 215

Dropped by Red Leg on Sunday for a few beers, including the August Rye.  Quality stuff, as usual.

Nice final bike ride on Sunday.  3.5 hours.  Red Rock Canyon, Stratton Open Space, Cheyenne Canon, High Drive, Cap't Jacks, the Chutes, Bear Creek Park.  Lots of technical (for me) stuff but it was a smooth ride, I've definitely improved my bike skills this year.

Also had a nice Sunday morning hike in the Garden with the dog.  Pretty sure it was the dog's best day ever, as shortly after this hike she feasted on two pounds of beef that we had taken out to thaw.

Got to watch Sharknado 2 last night, and even with huge expectations I was not disappointed.  The scene pictured below actually happens, so you can just imagine how awesome the rest of the movie is.
