it's official

Got an e-mail from the Boston Athletic Association this morning!

"This is to notify you that your entry into the 114th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 19, 2010 has been accepted, provided that the information you submitted is accurate."

And don't worry, the information is accurate. The only time I ever lie is when I'm trying to impress women.

I heard they shoot bandits at Boston. I know that for the 100th running they had armed guards at the starting corrals.

they've got police dogs to keep you from getting into the corrals (so you start after the last wave) but they don't have a policy against it otherwise...you could always send me a high res scan of your starting number, though (I'll change it to 6969 for my entry)

Thmize, They are very picky about letting the right bib numbers into the right corrals, so no bib would be real tough. However, you are correct, that they're lenient on letting you jump in with the last wave.

Heck, you could just walk down the first hill and then up the next hill and hang out on the sideline in throw away sweats. Myself and tons others pulled off about 1/2 a mile down to pee in the trees there, and then hopped back in, so I don't see how anyone would stop you.

They do frown upon you crossing the finish line, and have an opening a few hundred yards out with volunteers seeking bandits to encourage them to veer off and not cross the finish. I have a few friends that ran a few late miles with other friends, and they were just asked to veer off there. As long as you do that, you should be just fine.

Thmize, you should only bandit the last mile of the race, and cross the finish line in first place. PBR is on me if you pull that off.
