forever on trail...

So after not sleeping on Friday night and doing the PPRR ten miler on Sat morning, I called MeatGazer to see what time she was going to the hash. She said she wasn't going, she only got twelve hours of sleep last night and she was going to veg out on the couch. I was dead tired too, but I'm not a wanker like her so off to the hash it was...

Actually, I only went because it was the Forever on Trail hash, a tribute to fallen hashers. I wanted to be there to make sure Crotch Rot was added to the list.

But I'm glad I showed. Trail was absolutely beautiful. We started out at a pub in Old Colorado City, nestled in between Colorado Springs and Manitou. From the pub we headed south through some cool Colorado shiggy, across Fountain Creek, and through a cemetary, where we stopped at the tombstone of Barnicle Bob (which, fittingly, had an on-on sticker on it!). From there it was a short trek down a dirt road to the beer check, which featured both kinds of beer (Milwaukee's Best and PBR).

From the beer check there was a turkey/eagle split, with Nips hinting that the eagle trail would be worth it. And it was! We climbed, and climbed, and climbed to a section of town that was very similar to Garden of the Gods. But none of the longtime Springs residents had ever been here. Had tons of fun playing around on the rocks, and got some great views of Pikes Peak.

From this park we hashed back towards Old Colorado City, eventually ending up at the Red Rock Lounge, which looked like it had been kept in a vacuum since the 70s. Great dive! Circle was held in the bar. Overall a very fitting tribute to all those lost on trail!
