Fort Collins Hike?

$100 is looking for a three to ten mile hike to do in Fort Collins this Sunday. Any suggestions? For the life of me, I can't remember the name of the park we ran around during the Fat Ass, that's where I told her to go, but maybe some of yunz know something better?

In Fort Collins
Horsetooth Mountain Park (40 miles of trails)
Lory State Park (lots of trails)
(The two parks above are adjacent)

Close to Fort Collins
Round Mountain (4.5 miles to summit)
Crosier Mountain (3-5 miles to summit)
GreyRock (2.5-3.5 miles to summit)

Is this the course you recall?

We ran through Horsetooth Mountain Park (HTMP) and Lory State Park. HTMP is a great, classic option, Nick could tell you down to the exact foot of how long/high each trail is. The highlights in that distance range would be a hike to the rock summit (~2.6M), then descending Wathen and Spring Creek trail, then short detour to the trickling Falls and return. I haven't mapped it but it feels 10k-ish.

Grey Rock is ~7.5 miles RT, has the best views and summit prominence near the Fort, but it is ~25 minutes Northwest of town. Worth it if you have the time. Some routefinding on top, but look for cairns.

Coyote Ridge/Devil's Backbone, Bobcat Ridge, and Reservoir Ridge are also good options, but the ones above are probably the best -- better summit views and shade.

Probably stay up higher in Horsetooth - that Blue Sky area down to Devil's Backbone is a snake pit in the heat.

Remind her to bring $6 for a day pass for Horsetooth Park if she heads there (probably the best option). She also needs to stash a 6-pack on top of the rock for the FCTR crew for using our mountain. Are you Silverton bound? Wish I were.
