the apocalypse is coming...

By now everyone has heard about the recent shooting at New Life Church. Basically everyone but me at work goes to church at New Life, so whenever something big happens up there (oh, like maybe the head pastor having a meth crazed homosexual affair) it's definitely felt here in the office.

Anywho, turns out that the female security guard who shot the gunman was an ex-parole officer who I used to work with. She got canned here, basically for incompetence, shortly before I left for San Antonio. I saw her in USA Today this morning, and she actually thanked god for helping her hit the guy! I'm certainly not saying her actions weren't justified, but it just blows my mind that someone would thank god after that.

"Oh please, dear baby jesus, bless me with a firm hand and steady trigger squeeze, so that I may put this bullet in that dude's head. After all, you were just kidding about that whole 6th commandment thing, right?"

Religious people freak me out more and more every day. Except for C-4, of course!

Thanks! I am going to have to think about that one for a while...what would have been a better way to stop him from killing more people? I was excited to hear that she had shot him. Guess that puts me in your creepy category. I think you raise a good point, though. I will sit and think on it a bit. But I still heart the NRA.

The psycho had a rifle and she took him on with a handgun knowing damn well she was way outgunned. Took some gonads to do that.

I've heard this story reported both ways though; first story was she took him out and now FoxNews say he killed himself. Which is it?

Actually, turns out she was a pretty good shot. Hit him twice in the legs, once in the wrist, and one bullet (not lethal) deflected off of his weapon and struck him in the chest. After Murray (crazed kid shooter) went down, he took his own life with a bullet to his head.

Side note: CS City Council is now considering allowing security guards to carry semi-automatic weapons. I think it is a fine idea. Maybe they should hand some off to public school teachers as well.

I found an alternative to the semi-automatic guns for you, Brownie. Apparently a ceramic coffe mug can do a fine job of getting the bad guys to back off as well.

This story was great untill I found out the mug slinger's main motive was to get a cool video on you tube. Dang, we live in a pathetic world.

I have no problem with her shooting the guy, I just find it retarded that she thanked god for it.

News here says she shot him five times, including one shot that bounced off the shotgun into his chest, but the guy was somehow still alive and ended his life with his own bullet.

But she didn't pray to kill him, she just prayed that God be with her in that moment. I am sure she was thanking God for helping her to stop him from killing more people.
OR...maybe she is planning on starting her own, new, killing frenzied cult with God as the headliner....

Got it now. She fired until she stopped the threat, then he Cobain'd.

Hey Brownie, if you think she's retarded why not tell her so in person?

Yes, it sounds as if the guy just brought the end around a little quicker.

I would gladly tell her, had she not been escorted out of her office a few months ago.

FYI, it was reported in yesterday's Gazette (Colorado Springs) that the security guard was fired from the Minneapolis PD for lying under oath. The paper didn't report why she was fired from the parole office, but I know since I was there.

The inside story is she got fired from the parole for sexual-harassment. Apparently she made some off-color comment about a gay guy. So they fired her to cover their ass. He was so upset that he quit the parole office and re-enlisted in the military.
