This looks pretty rough. But it would drive me nuts to be in Silverton, with all that mountain beauty and all those great trails around, to run 1000 miles on the same half mile stretch on a dirt road.
Where do they come up with this stuff. Who in their right mind is going to take 41 days out of their life to participate in this ridiculous event? Brownie?
I can't find it now, but there was some contest like this in Boulder last year or the year before. Folks had to walk at least 1 mile an hour (ala King's the Long Walk) every hour ... winner was the guy who kept going. More of a do not sleep contest than a race IMO.

I wish. Only people with lucrative endorsement contracts, like those Team Pearl Izumi Smith guys, can do stuff like that.
I doubt anyone will sign up, this almost looks like a joke webpage, yet if it comes to fruition, it would be the endurance holy grail.
This has to be a hoax.

GZ - Ulli Kamm organizes things like this all the time so I bet that 'walking' contest is on his website http://www.ultrawalk.com/
Fast Ed, we should do a post Hardrock version where we go between the brewery and the rum distillery until one of us passes out.
