wedding trip, part I

After leaving after work and car camping at the UFO Watchtower,  we slowly made our way to Flagstaff.  Of course we stopped by the Durango Diner for a late breakfast.  And now that El Rancho opens at 10AM we were able to drop by there as well.  We both love Durango and it was tough to leave.

Stopped by Four Corners to drink beer at four states at once (yes, I know this is not the actual boundary between the four states, it's still a cool place to visit if you're driving by).

Then it was off to Flagstaff.  We checked in to the Grand Canyon hostel and went about exploring the city.  Very cool place, lots of bars nearby.  We also found out about this:

We had planned on going to Sedona on that day, but we decided to bail to hit the beerfest instead.  Great choice, had a blast and even took third in the brat eating contest.

Also completed the Flagstaff Ale Trail in what is probably an FKT.

The next day was a hungover hike to the top of Humphreys Peak, my 14th state highpoint.

And then it was off to stage for the Havasupai Falls trek.  We had planned on car camping, but after a few too many beers at the Roadkill Cafe/OK Saloon we saw this nugget next door and decided to live it up:
