commute #51/Keystone question

Quick run to work, five miles in 48 minutes.  Not nearly as cold as it was supposed to be.

Only one more week and the big 2012 commuter goal will be in the books.  Lopped over 20% of my driving miles off.  Looking to double that number in '13.

In Keystone this weekend.  For a concert, not skiing.  Any good bars there?  Any good runnable-in-December trails there?

Keystone ... not far from the Dam Brewery if memory serves correct.

Buffalo Mountain in Dillon is steep as hell but it's in the pine woods so it might work. http://tinyurl.com/bqjgc78

The Peaks Trail between Frisco and Breck is fantastic and mostly in the woods, and links up with the CO trail at the Miner's Creek junction roughly in the middle. You can pick it up in Breck or Frisco. http://tinyurl.com/bodqloc

Beer: Dam Brewery in Dillon (good but crowded), Pug Ryan's in Dillon (OK), Backcountry Brewery in Frisco (my fave). Breckenridge in Breck (very good). I don't know about straight-up bars, sorry. Ha. There used to be a brew pub right in the village at Keystone but they shut down. Pity, it was good.

MTNR, won't those be buried in snow?

Will probably visit all those breweries once again. And I'm with you, Backcountry is one of my favorites.

There will be snow, but both Peaks (Breck end of the trail) and Buffalo Mountain have lots of sections of fairly dense trees once you get off the trailhead a ways, that's why they came to mind. It's what I'd try if I were there.

The middle section of Peaks does open up in a few places.

Mesa Cortina trail on Buffalo Mountain is a good run. It has snowed some this past week but this will be runnable. Cindy ran it today
