Legandary Pittsburgher Myron Cope died earlier today. Inventor of the Terrible Towel, I'd say Cope was second only to Roberto Clemente in terms of all-time popularity in the 'burgh. CNNSI.com included this nugget in the story:
"With a voice beyond imitation -- a falsetto so shrill it could pierce even the din of a touchdown celebration -- Cope was a man of many words, some not in any dictionary."
And though Twin Peaks probably didn't know this when she suggested my hash name, Cope was the one who began calling cleveland the brownies.
