Supposidly the toughest part of Leadville is the trip over and back Hope Pass. It's the biggest hill that takes you to the highest point of the course. Melissa will be with me on the way back to keep me moving, the way over is up to me. Here are some pics of that section of the course I ripped off of this website. I have a feeling that if I'm able to get through this part of the course before nightfall, I should be OK.

Yeah, it's a nasty haul near the top and right back up past the trail-head BUT IMHO the *hardest* part of that section is the road to the aid-station. If Melissa is meeting you at the trail-head drop everything there and carry minimal to the station. You can pick up on the way back. It's a fun haul on the down *in* from Hope's Pass as you can get some good speed if the quads are willing.
Hopefully that pile of rocks with the stick coming out of it isn't a makeshift burial ground for other runners who didn't make it...
Hey, did you get the shirt I mailed you? I have some other stuff for you but I wanna make sure I have the right address.
good luck at Leadville. those pics looks incredible. Too bad I live at sea level and have asthma...I guess I will never do it. My advice based off one measley little 100 miler..is don't quit, pack some of your favorite treats to eat, and remember you signed up to do this...it is supposed to be fun.
Nice pics. Thank god for once your ugly mug isn't in them.
