Don’t know if you saw this, but two runners in New Haven, Connecticut who sprinkled flour in a parking lot to make a trail for a Hash House Harrier run, inadvertently caused a bioterrorism scare and now face first-degree breach of peace charges—a felony. Daniel Salchow and his sister Dorothee decided to route the Harriers through an IKEA parking lot in New Haven and dutifully marked the trail with the harmless flour. Wouldn’t you know it, but the flour set off an alert that forced a massive response from police who evacuated the IKEA. When Daniel Salchow heard about the IKEA, he rushed back and told the police that the powder was not Anxthrax, but flour. Evidently, the police didn’t much care. New Haven plans to seek restitution from the Salchows who are due in court September 14th.
