Currently another rescue operation underway at Oregon's Mount Hood. Looks like this one is gonna end up a bit better than the last one. Can't understand why this mountain is causing so much trouble, it's not that difficult to climb, though winter ascents are always dangerous.
Of course, with all the media attention, a bunch of fat folks who can't walk up stairs without panting are now trying to pass laws about mountaineering. Sure hope this never happens in Colorado. For the record, when I go out hiking, I carry neither a beacon nor a cell phone. It's a big part of the beauty of it all for me.

We should pass "sensible" mountaineering laws.
Anyone who hurts themselves climbing (or their families if they die) should be able to sue manufactures of boots, ropes, and the state of CO just for having mountains.
You should be require to have a license to climb.
Bag limits: No more than 3 climbs a year, to protect ... something.
No climbing on Sundays allowed. (PA)
If you suddenly get a day off and the weather's calm and the skies are the clearest in 10 years. You want to climb peak xyz cause it's the only time you'll ever be this clear to see 8 other peaks to the west. Whoops, can't do it... If you want to climb you should have to apply first and then wait x number of days before climbing.
Screw that shit. Those are MY mountains and I'll climb them whenever I damn well please. Drive safely.
