sand dunes

Took the van down to the San Luis Valley over the weekend.  The usual Friday post-work spot at Oil Well Flats, then Sat and Sun nights at the Dunes.

On Saturday we spend some time at the Dunes before heading up to the Zapata Falls campground.  It was cold and I was surprised to see three other campers there.  One was in a tent, and I actually thought about checking on him Sunday morning, but I passed.  Hope he didn't freeze to death.

Up early Sunday to head back to the Dunes for a good hike.

After the hike we headed over to Del Norte for lunch at Three Barrel Brewing.

Then we decided to try a new place, the Sand Dunes Swimming Pool.  We loved it.  Heated pools and hot tubs, and a bar.  A bit pricey, a tent site was $25 (compared to Zapata, which is $11) and then you still had to pay to get into the pools.  But we had a blast.

When we woke up on Monday it was -8F.  Definitely the coldest we've ever slept in the van.  Hopefully a record that stands forever.

Left pretty early on Monday to get home in time to hit the DIM Hash.  BLOS and I took the pack from Benny's to Tony's along the path of the recent stabbing spree.  Good times.
